Today I joined my caucus members in voting against a measure to further extend Governor Lamont’s executive powers and continue his current executive orders until May 20, 2021. House Republicans proposed an amendment that would have required a thorough review of all executive orders by April 15, with a vote to approve or reject them by April 21.

This amendment provided an opportunity for Republicans and Democrats to come together and advocate for the return of co-equality between the branches of government. Unfortunately, it failed along party lines.

In addition to this amendment, our caucus put together a full plan to “Rebalance CT.” More information about this plan, including a video of today’s press conference unveiling it, can be found here.

We also voted on legislation to extend the ability of restaurants to serve food on sidewalks and outdoor patios until March 31, 2022, which passed unanimously. I am proud that we were able to come together and give further relief to our restaurants, which have suffered so much during this pandemic.

Both bills will now move on to the State Senate. To learn more or to track this legislation visit www.cga.ct.gov.
