HARTFORD – Despite the potential for rain, storms, and some of the worst heat so far this year, State Rep. Irene Haines hosted Office Hours June 29th at the East Hampton Library and July 1st at the Heritage Park Pavilion in Moodus. She briefed the constituents who joined her on legislation that passed the House and Senate this session and the legislative process.

Specifically, the conversation focused on the marijuana legislation that went into effect July 1, the recent uptick in juvenile car thefts and proposed reforms, and legislation Rep. Haines championed as the Ranking Member of the Higher Education Committee.

Rep. Haines discusses legislation with constituents in Moodus.

“It is so refreshing to have so many people show up and express their interest in state politics, especially in this awful summer weather,” said Rep. Haines. “It is so important that residents stay involved and informed, and that I am able to hear their perspectives on what is going on in Hartford. It certainly makes it easier for me to do my job when I am able to touch base with the folks that I represent.”

Rep. Haines meets with constituents over coffee at the East Hampton Library.
