    Rep. Haines Approves Early Voting Measure

    In the past two weeks, I have voted on two very important proposals regarding early voting and no-excuse absentee ballot voting. Both issues may end up on the 2022 or 2024 general election ballot as potential amendments to our state constitution.

    CT College Corps Now Accepting Applications

    The recently created Connecticut College Corps is looking to recruit college students interested in working at summer enrichment programs. The goal is to provide K-12 students and families with engaging enrichment and learning experiences in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic while enriching our college students as well.

    Home Heating Assistance Applications Extended to June 15th

    The deadline to apply for the CT Energy Assistance Program has been extended to June 15th, 2021. This program can help residents who are struggling to pay home heating bills remaining from this past winter.

    Call 2-1-1 or visit ct.gov/staywarm for more information. You can also call Middletown CRT, Inc. for local assistance at (860) 347-4465.

    CTDOT to Hold Public Hearings on Rail Service and Fare Changes

    The CT Department of Transportation will be holding several public hearings via Zoom on rail service and fare changes that were previously made in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, as well as the proposed elimination of the Mail & Ride fare media.

    Hearings will be held May 18th & 19th from 6pm-9pm and May 20th & 25th from 12pm-3pm. Participants may testify live or simply view the hearings via Zoom.

    Visit DOT’s website for instructions to testify or view the hearings, as well as additional resources regarding the proposals at hand. You can also submit public comments via email at dot.proposedtransitchanges@ct.gov by May 28th.
