It was important to co-sponsor Public Act 24-27, An Act Establishing a Fallen Officer Fund and Providing Health Insurance Coverage to Survivors of a Police Officer Killed in the Line of Duty. I believe it is very fitting that this piece of legislation was signed during Police Week 2024. Our men and women of law enforcement lay it on the line for us each time they leave their homes for a shift. The sad reality as we know is- some do not make it back home.

This priority of the Connecticut House Republicans was signed into law by Governor Lamont this week and will provide vital financial assistance for family members of police officers who were killed in the line of duty. Family members that were covered by the insurance of a fallen officer will have health insurance covered for up to five years, and $100,000 will be provided to the surviving family members.

This was one of the most important pieces of legislation that I co-sponsored this session, and I am thankful we could get this passed into law.
