    Dear Friends and Neighbors,

    This Thursday, the Energy & Technology Committee will hold a public informational forum to address recent issues with our electric utility providers. Please read the bulletin announcement below for more information and instructions on how to submit public testimony. I am also sharing recent announcements from DOT regarding new signage on limited access highways in our region, and extended service for the Chester-Hadlyme Ferry.

    Energy & Technology Committee Informational Forum on Isaias Response & Utility Rate Increases

    The Energy and Technology Committee will hold a virtual Informational Forum on Tropical Storm Isaias Response and Electric Utility Rate Increases with invited speakers on Thursday, August 27, 2020 at 10:30 A.M. via ZOOM.

    To access the livestream of the virtual Informational Forum, please visit CT-N.com. Written testimony is encouraged to be submitted to the Committee staff. Please email written testimony in Word or PDF format to ETtestimony@cga.ct.gov or it can be mailed to the Energy and Technology Committee Legislative Office Building, Room 3900, Hartford, CT 06106 in the event email submission is unavailable.

    The Committee requests that testimony be limited to matters related to Tropical Storm Isaias Utility Response and the July 2020 Electric Utility Rate Increases. All submitted testimony is public information. As such, it will be made available on the CGA website and indexed by internet search engines.

    Sign Replacement on Local Highways 

    The Department of Transportation (Department) is developing plans to replace signs and sign supports along Route 2, Route 3, Route 11, Route 17, including associated on-ramps and off-ramps, including revisions to mileage-based exit numbering.  The new signs and sign supports will be installed in accordance with the latest federal and state standards and guidelines.  The types of signs that will be replaced include, but are not limited to, large overhead and side mounted Guide signs and smaller signs such as Mile Markers, Exit Gore signs, Speed Limit signs, Merge signs, and Route Confirmation signs.

    Connecticut River Ferry Service Extended 

    The Connecticut Department of Transportation announced today that service on the two Connecticut River ferries will be extended by an additional seven weeks, to October 25, 2020.

    The Chester-Hadlyme ferry is operating between 7 a.m. and 6:45 p.m. Monday-Friday, and between 10:30 a.m. and 5 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday.  The Rocky Hill-Glastonbury ferry operates Tuesday-Friday between 7 a.m. and 6:45 p.m. on weekdays, and 10:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. on weekends.
