Newtown Legislative Delegation Honors Retiring Monsignor, Participate in St. Rose Knowledge Bowl

Newtown, Conn.—As part of Catholic Schools Week, State Representatives Mitch Bolinsky (R-106) and Martin Foncello (R-107) along with State Senator Tony Hwang (R-28), presented a citation to St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church Monsignor Robert Weiss on his last day as Pastor of Newtown’s largest faith community, marking his retirement, and recognizing him for his years of devoted service to the parish and the community. Newtown, Conn. – Scout Troop 870 members Alyssa Jones and Gabriella Arguello have achieved the rank of Eagle Scout and were recognized on Saturday, December 30. State Representatives Mitch Bolinsky (R-106) and Martin Foncello (R-107) delivered remarks at the ceremony honoring their achievements.

TAX CUTS

The state budget, adopted in June, cuts the bottom two marginal income tax rates for all filers from 3% to 2% and from 5% to 4.5%. Income taxes on the first $50,000 in taxable income will be lowered for single filers and married people filing

(HARTFORD, CT) – State Representative Mitch Bolinsky (R-106) along with State Rep. Martin Foncello (R-107) and State Senator Tony Hwang (R-28) announced that Newtown’s EverWonder Children’s Museum, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, is the recipient of a $300,000 state grant awarded by the State Bond Commission, at the Commission’s meeting on Friday December 15th,, 2023,  The funds will help support the museum’s recent relocation and expansion.

Newtown Lawmakers Honors Local Veterans with Wartime Service Medal

NEWTOWN– State Representatives Mitch Bolinsky (R-106) and Martin Foncello (R-107) participated in a Connecticut Wartime Service Medal Ceremony hosted at Newtown Middle School on Friday, November 10th, which was the state-observed Veterans Day.

The Newtown legislators presented the medals alongside the Middle School students who were related to each one of the veterans. The ceremony honored eight (8) Newtown Veterans.

Key committee vote to be held on Nov. 28

In advance of a key legislative committee vote on Nov. 28, Representative Martin Foncello (R-107) joined members of the Connecticut House and Senate Republican caucuses to urge Democrats to “pump the brakes” on the Lamont administration’s proposal to ban the sales of new gas-powered vehicles by 2035 and send the proposed regulations back to the full legislature for more deliberation.
