    HARTFORD – State Representative Devin Carney (R-23) and Christine Goupil (D-35) will be hosting a “Food and Diaper Drive” in Westbrook to collect non-perishable food items and diapers to benefit the Shoreline Soup Kitchens & Pantries and Bare Necessities Diaper Bank.

    When: Saturday, September 18, 2021

    10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

    Where: Westbrook Town Green

    21 Essex Road, Westbrook

    Some of the items being collecting by the representatives include pasta, sauce, juice/juice boxes, hot/cold cereal, peanut butter, jelly, nuts, dried fruit, cake and muffin mixes, diapers and wipes.

    The Shoreline Soup Kitchens & Pantries serves residents in Essex, Chester, Clinton, Madison, Old Saybrook, East Lyme, Lyme, Old Lyme, Killingworth, Westbrook, and Deep River. Last year, SSKP saw an increase of 60% in the number of people the organization helped from the previous year.  For more information on the Shoreline Soup Kitchens & Pantries, visit shorelinesoupkitchens.org.

    To date, Bare Necessities, Inc. serves 270 families and has distributed more than 396,000 diapers and 809,000 wipes to local families. For more information on the Bare Necessities Diaper Bank, visit barnecessitiesct.org.
