Ensuring the voices of our young people are well represented starts by sparking their interest in being involved. Today, Thanks to Mrs. Payne and Old Saybrook High School, I had another opportunity to speak with Civics students about what pushed me to get involved in politics, my role as a state representative, the intricacies and make up of Connecticut’s state government, and the bill process from start to finish.
Talking with the students was a great opportunity to engage with them in an informal way on the types of issues that impact them in both their education and in their lives. I appreciate their attention and engagement in wanting to learn more.
