    FRA Public Meeting TOMORROW in Old Lyme

    on Proposed Rail Route;

    Submit Questions, Comments in Advance or at Meeting

    TOMORROW, August 31, 2016

    4:30 pm Old Lyme

    Lyme-Old Lyme High School auditorium

    69 Lyme Street

    After many months of trying to get the Federal Railroad Administration (FRA) to come to Old Lyme to discuss the controversial Old Saybrook to Kenyon, RI bypass proposal (I am opposed to this plan), they will finally be coming. They will give a short presentation on the proposal, discuss concerns, and answer questions. Rebecca Reyes-Alicea, the project manager for NEC Future (the study that includes the bypass), will be part of the FRA delegation.

    I will be joined by Senator Richard Blumenthal, State Senator Paul Formica, DOT Commissioner James Redeker, and local First Selectmen and Selectmen at this meeting with FRA. Congressman Joe Courtney is able to attend until 5 p.m.

    The meeting will be open to the public in an effort to allow residents and businesses to hear the discussion. I strongly encourage you to attend because this may be our only opportunity to address the FRA in person before the administration selects a rail plan for the future.

    The Town of Old Lyme is hosting the meeting and requests that comments and questions be submitted to selectmansoffice@oldlyme-ct.gov prior to the meeting so that they may be addressed at the roundtable discussion.  It will also be possible to submit questions at the meeting for discussion by the participants.

    Rep. Carney Recognizes Vista Life Class of 2025

    Regardless of how many times I’ve attended Vista Life Innovations, Inc. graduation ceremonies over the years, I can honestly say that it remains one of the most rewarding events I get the privilege of being a part of. Its so heartwarming to hear the stories of personal growth and development from each of the student’s […]

    Connecticut’s tourism industry brings in about $4 billion a year, and not surprisingly, our beautiful shoreline is one of the state’s top attractions. This afternoon, I had a chance to talk with Meri Wick, Owner of the The Captain Stannard and The Westbrook Inn Bed and Breakfast, to learn more about her locations and listen […]
