First off, I would like to thank all of you who came to my office hours in Old Saybrook and Old Lyme. I found these meetings to be incredibly helpful and I appreciated all of the comments and suggestions.

If you were unable to attend, but have questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact me directly at devin.carney@housegop.ct.gov or 1-800-842-1423.

In addition, I hope you will consider joining me at my Westbrook Office Hours on February 9, from 6:30 – 8:00 PM at the Westbrook Town Hall.

Everyone is welcome, and I hope to see you there.

    NEC FUTURE RAIL STUDY

There have been many questions and concerns surrounding a federal rail study being done (“NEC FUTURE”) on the Northeast Corridor (Amtrak’s Boston to DC line) and the potentially devastating effects it could have on Old Lyme and the region.

Essentially, the study proposes three alternatives for the future of the NEC and ‘Alternative 1’ includes new tracks to be built from, what would be, a new railroad bridge in Old Saybrook through to Kenyon, RI and the tracks would run directly through the heart of the Town of Old Lyme.  I am strongly opposed to this idea because it would destroy homes, businesses, the Old Lyme Historic District, our environment, and the entire character of the town.

I have called for the proposal to be removed and, if not, for there to be an additional public hearing in Old Lyme so that we have the opportunity to voice our thoughts and ask questions. Unfortunately, I have not received a response from the federal government.

If you would like to learn more about the plan, please click here: http://www.necfuture.com/.

If you would like to testify, please click here to access instructions and to see my testimony please click here. The comment period is only through February 15th. I also encourage you to contact our federal delegation, whose contact information is in the instructions.

I urge you to testify if you feel strongly about this and please let me know if you have any questions or comments.

    Best Regards,

    State Representative Devin Carney

Rep. Carney Recognizes Vista Life Class of 2025

Regardless of how many times I’ve attended Vista Life Innovations, Inc. graduation ceremonies over the years, I can honestly say that it remains one of the most rewarding events I get the privilege of being a part of. Its so heartwarming to hear the stories of personal growth and development from each of the student’s […]

Rep. Carney ToursThe Captain Stannard and The Westbrook Inn Bed and Breakfast

Connecticut’s tourism industry brings in about $4 billion a year, and not surprisingly, our beautiful shoreline is one of the state’s top attractions. This afternoon, I had a chance to talk with Meri Wick, Owner of the The Captain Stannard and The Westbrook Inn Bed and Breakfast, to learn more about her locations and listen […]
