    I wanted to share with you, some information from the CT Department of Transportation (DOT) regarding upcoming paving and bridge maintenance in our area that will involve I-95 On/Off Ramp CLOSURE, and impact traffic and travel routes in our communities in the coming days: I-95 Southbound Exit 71 On and Off-Ramp Closures to Take Place East Lyme and Old Lyme

    The Connecticut Department of Transportation is announcing ramp closures for the Exit 71 on and off ramps for I-95 Southbound in the vicinity of the East Lyme/Old Lyme town line. Work will commence on August 8, 2016, and is expected to be completed by August 22, 2016.

    Both the SOUTHBOUND I-95 Exit 71 on and off ramps will be CLOSED for a continuous 14 day period.

    The closure of Exit 71 on and off ramps for Four Mile River Road (Exit 71) will begin 12:00 AM, August 8, 2016 and is expected to be completed by August 22, 2016.

    The reconstruction of the southbound Exit 71 on and off ramps will involve full depth pavement replacement.

    LANE CLOSURE / DETOUR INFO

    Motorists on I-95 can expect temporary lane shifts and/or closures during the evening between 7:00 pm and 7:00 am.

    Motorists utilizing the Exit 71 southbound off ramp to access Four Mile River Road should use the off ramp for Exit 72 (Rocky Neck Connector) to Route 156 and Four Mile River Road.

    Motorists intending to access I-95 southbound should use Four Mile River Road to Route 156 to the Rocky Neck Connector and access I-95 Southbound via the Exit 72 on-ramp or use Route 1 or Route 156 to the Exit 70 on-ramp onto the Baldwin Bridge.

    Motorists are encouraged to follow detour signs or use alternate routes.

    Motorists are urged to obey the posted speed limit and proceed with caution when driving in this area.

    Bridge Maintenance along Route 1 in Old Saybrook The Connecticut Department of Transportation (DOT) is announcing that a bridge maintenance project will be performed on Route 1 in Old Saybrook beginning Monday, August 8, 2016.

    The project consists of bridge maintenance on Route 1 NB & SB, Bridge #02300 (Oyster River overpass) in Old Saybrook. This project is scheduled to occur on Monday, August 8, 2016 through Friday, August 26, 2016.

    This project is included in the Department of Transportation’s 2016 bridge maintenance program to support state forces with bridge repairs and is being performed by Costello Industries Inc.

    LANE CLOSURE INFO

    Motorists can expect various lane closures on Route 1 NB & SB in Old Saybrook between Old Boston Post Road and Ingham Hill Road.

    Motorists should be aware that modifications or extensions to this schedule may become necessary due to weather delays or other unforeseen conditions. Motorists are advised to maintain a safe speed when driving in this vicinity.
