I wanted to share some information regarding sign replacement and exit renumbering along Route 9 from Old Saybrook to Farmington, Pre-Session Virtual Public Forum, and the results from my 2022 Legislative Survey. Thank you to everyone who took the time out to answer this survey, it prompted 118 responses that I wanted to pass along to you.

Department of Transportation announces Sign Replacement and Renumbering on Route 9

Resigning Route 9 will go from the I-95 interchange in Old Saybrook to the I-84 interchange in Farmington.

Exit numbering will be revised for all of the Route 9 corridor to conform with Federal standards. Exit numbers will now correspond with the Route 9 mile point associated with the exit.

During the course of construction, the Department will be installing new signs to post both the “Old Exit” numbers and the new exit numbers. (The “Old Exit” panels will remain for a minimum of two years.) Every effort will be made to assure the direction for exit numbering is clear to the motoring public.

    Lane Closure Info:

Traffic may experience delays Monday through Friday from 9:00 A.M. to 3:00 P.M. and 6:00 P.M. to 5:00 A.M. Also, delays may be experienced on Saturdays and Sundays.
