Rep. Buchsbaum Takes Oath of Office to Serve 69th District Residents

HARTFORD — With his family looking on in the Hall of the House of Representatives Wednesday morning, State Representative Jason Buchsbaum (R-69) took the oath of office to serve a first term as the voice of residents in Bridgewater, Roxbury, New Milford, and Southbury.

“I’m excited for the opportunity to represent my constituents on the state level and expand my service to the community,” said Rep. Buchsbaum, who previously served on the Southbury Board of Selectmen.

For the 2025-2026 session, House Republican Leader Vincent Candelora appointed Rep. Buchsbaum to serve as a member of the Commerce Committee, Energy & Technology Committee, and the Public Safety & Security Committee.

“There are some challenging issues facing the state, from electric costs and overall cost of living to safety, and I am ready to get to work to address these matters. Making our state more affordable for residents and businesses will be my top priorities this session,” said Rep. Buchsbaum.

After being sworn-in, legislators acted on the General Assembly’s operating rules for the upcoming year. Buchsbaum voted in favor of the new rules, which were approved by the House of Representatives in its first order of business of the new session. Following procedural matters, Governor Lamont delivered his state of the state address to a joint session of the General Assembly.
