Rep. Buchsbaum Shares Flood Resource Update

This week, I joined Southbury First Selectman Jeff Manville, Senator Richard Blumenthal, U.S. Small Business Administration District Director Catherine Marx, members of the Southbury Board of Selectmen and other local officials at a press conference at Southbury Town Hall that announced additional flood disaster relief funding through the SBA loan program.
$2.2 billion in new funding to provide relief for those recovering from the August 2024 flood event was included in the Continuing Resolution passed by Congress in December.
The program ran out of funding in October, but the SBA continued to accept and process disaster loan applications so applicants would be able to receive funding once a new round became available. Anyone impacted can apply for disaster loans at lending.sba.gov until Sunday, January 19th, for physical damage claims and June 20th for economic injury claims.
You can also call 800-659-2955 from 8 a.m. – 8 p.m. ET Monday through Friday.
In December, Congress secured a $220 million allocation for the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) to provide block grants to eligible states, including Connecticut. This funding is intended to compensate producers for expenses and losses incurred due to weather events in 2023 and 2024.
I urge you to complete the brief survey to report your losses and share with others. The deadline to complete the survey is Sunday, January 19, 2025. The data will help CT DoAg fully understand the scope of the losses so they can quickly divide and disburse funding when it is available.
