The CT DOT is holding an informational meeting tonight in Southbury on a project to replace a temporary bridge on Route 67 over South Branch Bullet Hill Brook, where the road was washed out during the August 2024 flooding. The community will have the chance tonight to learn about the proposed project, discuss concerns and ask any questions. The meeting will also be streamed online on the Southbury town website: https://www.southburyct.org/videostreaming.
The right-of-way impacts associated with the proposed improvements are temporary to town owned property to allow for channel reconstruction and construction staging.
Construction is expected to start summer 2027, depending on funding, right-of-way acquisition, and permits. The estimated cost is $7 million, with 80% federal funds and 20% state funds.
The public can submit comments and questions during two-week public comment period following meeting. Direct comments and questions by Tuesday, September 23, 2025, to DOTProjectPP130-25@ct.gov or (860) 594-2020, or Jonathan Kempf at Jonathan.kempf@ct.gov or (860) 594-3308.
