Veterans Stand Down Event, Friday, Sept. 22

The CT Dept. of Veterans Affairs will be hosting STAND DOWN 2023 on Friday, September 22, from 8:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m., to provide access to a range of programs and services offered by state and federal agencies, Veterans organizations, and community-based non-profits at these regional sites across the State.

The regional sites include:

  • Bridgeport: University of Bridgeport, Wheeler Recreational Center, 400 University Ave.
  • Bristol: Gregory CCD Center, 1043 Stafford Ave.
  • Danbury: Danbury War Memorial

Sales Tax Free Week August 20-26

Beginning Sunday, August 20, and concluding on Saturday, August 26, clothing items and footwear sold in Connecticut (under $100 per item) will be exempt from the state’s sales tax. This tax holiday was established by the Connecticut General Assembly and will be celebrated for the 23rd time this year.

This is a good time to revamp your wardrobe or take your students back to school shopping. The exemption also applies to sales completed on-line.

Anderson Applauds Land Protection Agreement

HARTLAND – This morning atop the Goodwin Dam, I joined conservation organizations, the Metropolitan District Commission (MDC), and fellow legislators to hail an important agreement to conserve 5,500 acres of watershed land in Connecticut and Massachusetts. 4,300 acres are in Colebrook and Hartland. Memorial Day weekend is the unofficial kick off to summer. More importantly, on Monday we honor the men and women who died while serving in the U.S. military. Here are commemorations taking place in the 62nd District:
