House Republicans recently proposed our two-year state budget plan. The balanced budget proposal is comprised of broad-based tax cuts, totaling over $1 billion, while still funding core government services.

Tax Relief Budget…
The document champions historic funding levels for education and nonprofit organizations, while reducing funding for state agencies that had overestimated payroll costs.
Additional highlights of the plan include:
- Cuts middle class taxes retroactively
- Implements a first time child tax deduction ($2k per child)
- Eliminates taxes on children’s clothing under $100
- Establishes a phase-out of the threshold on retirement income tax
- Fully funds special education grants
- Increases funding for the Litchfield County Regional Fire School
