(COVENTRY) — Today, the Connecticut Department of Transportation awarded more than $9 million in state grants for transportation infrastructure and safety upgrades in ten rural communities throughout our state. Among the towns, State Representative Tim Ackert (R-Coventry) announced that his hometown will be receiving $498,000 for general pedestrian safety improvements.

These grants will be released through the Transportation Rural Improvement Program (TRIP), which was recently created to support rural CT municipalities that often are ineligible for many federal transportation programs.
