Carpino Participates in Celebrity Reader Day

CROMWELL – State Representative Christie Carpino (Cromwell/Portland) participated in the Celebrity Reader program, put on by Cromwell’s Belden Library. Each month, the library invites a celebrity reader to present a short story to children between the ages of three and five. 

Children’s Librarian, Lois Meltzer, facilitates the Celebrity Reader program and explained that the event not only excites children about reading but showcases the local library as a community hub for academic enrichment. Metlzer and Carpino encouraged the children and their parents to participate in September’s Library Card Sign-Up event. 

“The love of literature is a passion of mine that I enjoy sharing,” said Rep. Carpino. “I hope that sharing one of my favorite stories with these young children will help encourage them to explore all the library has to offer.”
