Dear Neighbor,

If you are a veteran or know a veteran please share this important message with them.

MIDDLESEX HOSPITAL TO PROVIDE LUNG CANCER RISK ASSESSMENTS TO LOCAL VETERANS

In honor of Veterans’ Day, staff from the Middlesex Hospital Total Lung Care Program will provide free lung cancer risk assessments and free screening CT scans for local veterans, who are current or former smokers.

When? Tuesday, November 11, 2014 from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

Where? Middlesex Hospital Cancer Center, 536 Saybrook Road, Middletown.

Veterans are among those at highest risk for lung cancer, especially those who served during the Vietnam era, due to the high percentage of smokers in this group, along with exposure to other known carcinogens such as Agent Orange, radon, asbestos, diesel fuel and other battlefield emissions.

Veterans will be asked to complete a risk assessment to determine whether they meet the eligibility criteria for lung cancer screening.

They will also learn about the risks and benefits of the screening, which uses low-dose CT scanning. Pulmonologists will be on hand to answer questions.

No pre-registration is required. Light refreshments will be served. For questions or more information, contact Megin Iaccarino at 860-358-2066.

Hope this information is helpful!
