EAST HAVEN – State Representative Joe Zullo announced today that he will be hosting a “legislative process forum” prior to the 2020 Legislative Session that starts on Wednesday, February 5th.  The forum will take place Wednesday, January 22nd, from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Hagaman Memorial Library (DeMayo Meeting Room) 227 Main St, East Haven).

Rep. Zullo, who won Special Election earlier in 2019, said, “As a newcomer to the General Assembly I had to learn quickly about the legislative process in Hartford. The legislative process can be complex and frustrating at times. I want the residents of East Haven to have the opportunity to learn more about the legislative session and the difficult process of how a bill becomes a law.”

Zullo also encouraged residents and attendees to bring bill suggestions to the forum for possible submission in the upcoming legislative session.

Zullo added, “I am encouraging residents to bring their ideas, concerns, and questions to this forum.  It is certainly possible that some of those ideas may become springboards for bill proposals.”

Zullo noted, “We may not get to every bill suggestion, but I am hopeful we will be able to seize upon a few to give attendees a clearer understanding of how a bill winds its way through the legislature.”

Zullo concluded, “As the town’s former corporation counsel, I hosted educational sessions about navigating our local town government and on the freedom of information act because it is critical for our residents to be educated and informed not only about the issues, but about how their government works.  I am hopeful this forum will be productive and that attendees will leave with a better understanding of how their state government works and how best to go about getting their concerns addressed.”
