EAST HAVEN – State Representative Joe Zullo and State Senator Len Fasano sent a letter to East Haven Mayor Joseph Carfora on Wednesday, January 8th to notify him and his administration about an upcoming grant opportunity under the State of Connecticut’s “Community Development Block Grant” (CDBG) program and to offer assistance in helping the Town coordinate an application for the 2020 CDBG grant cycle.

In the letter, Rep. Zullo and Sen. Fasano pointed out, “Since 2010, over $126 million dollars has flowed from the State to local towns under the program,… “in both 2010 and 2011, the Town of East Haven was awarded $300,000.00 dollars under the program for town-wide housing rehabilitation revolving loans.”

Rep. Zullo and Sen. Fasano, later in the letter wrote, “In light of my prior experience working with Sal Brancati, our joint understanding of the CDBG program, and the experience of both Senator Fasano and Representative Lemar pursuing grants at the capitol, I believe that we can submit a very competitive application in the 2020 grant cycle.  If you are interested in pursuing this grant, I suggest that you meet with your staff as soon as possible to identify local priorities consistent with the Small Cities Program’s objectives. If you choose to do so and wish to submit an application, I will make myself available to assist and advise in the process to whatever extent is both helpful and desired.”
