Connecticut Business and Industry Association: Zullo Scores 100% with Pro-Business Voting Record

(HARTFORD) — On Monday, the Connecticut Business and Industry Association (CBIA) released their 2023 Legislative Voting Records grading General Assembly members on their support for key bills that promote local business, economic development, and a positive post-pandemic recovery. According to the organization’s report, East Haven State Representative Joe Zullo (R-99) received a perfect score, demonstrating his commitment to business owners and our workforce throughout Connecticut.

“I am grateful to once again receive a 100% pro-CT Business voting record for the 2023 legislative session,” said Zullo on Monday. “Right now, small businesses and their employees face a number of challenges, including rising inflation, outstanding student loan debt, and a tax and regulatory climate in Connecticut that, while improving, still frustrates growth. Focusing on the needs of small business owners and employees is essential to helping build a robust, growing economy that will benefit owners, workers, consumers, and the entire State.”

The CBIA’s mission is to advocate at the state Capitol for policies that support job creation, foster economic growth, and help businesses compete. As the largest leading business organization, the CBIA also offers services and informational updates to owners and employees to help track legislation and submit public testimony throughout the legislative session.

Zullo noted, “Last session, I was a strong proponent for pro-growth measures aimed at reducing taxes, particularly on small businesses. To help first-time homebuyers and incentivize new residents and families to work, shop, and ultimately settle locally, I sponsored legislation creating a five-hundred dollar ($500.00) yearly property tax abatement for first-time homebuyers, a credit which would particularly helpful given the skyrocketing interest rates that are sapping homebuyers’ purchasing power. Additionally, I supported proposals calling for more transparent reporting requirements, rolling back government red tape, and which would promote workforce development.”

Zullo added, “I have always maintained that we need to be making it easier, and not harder, for small businesses and families to get ahead. A robust economy and friendly climate for small businesses and entrepreneurs is a critical part of accomplishing that goal here in Connecticut.”

Zullo concluded, “I want to thank the CBIA for their recognition and extend my congratulations to all my recognized colleagues. The vast majority of businesses in Connecticut are small businesses, and those businesses support families and the communities where they are based. As we look ahead to the next session, I remain committed to supporting pro-growth, common sense measures that will help those businesses, families, and local towns and cities to thrive.”
