HARTFORD – State Representative Joe Zullo said recent job numbers from the Department of Labor show Connecticut continuing to head down the wrong path.

According to the latest Department of Labor report, 3,400 jobs were lost between January and March. In March, 1,300 jobs were lost and the unemployment rate climbed above the national average of 3.8 percent.

“Businesses are being pinched more and more by rising costs and the never-ending taxes pushed down on them from Hartford,” said Rep. Zullo. “These numbers are proof that the progressive tax agenda is bad for our economy.”

Rep. Zullo continued, “Tolls and tax increases being proposed this year could shutter more businesses and result in a skyrocketing unemployment rate. My colleagues on the other side of the aisle need to take these job numbers into consideration before they propose and pass any anti-business legislation. We need to be in the business of growing jobs and, right now, our policies are working against employers and stressing already cash-strapped residents.”
