Zawistowski to Seek Government Savings on New Task Force

HARTFORD — State Rep. Tami Zawistowski has been appointed to a new bipartisan planning task force to identify and evaluate the efficiency of state services that cost more than $250,000 annually.
The Efficiency Planning Task Force was created by the General Assembly during the Dec. 8 special legislative session held to tackle a then $350 million current-year budget deficit.
“Our state has, unfortunately, become synonymous with the phrase ‘perpetual fiscal crisis,’ and will be for the foreseeable future, so it’s critical that the General Assembly resolve root issues that are driving these budget deficits,” said Zawistowski, a member of the legislature’s Appropriations Committee.
Then eight-member task force must submit its findings to the Appropriations and Government Administration and Elections committees by Dec. 8, 2016.
Zawistowski, who serves the 61st General Assembly District covering Suffield, East Granby, and part of Windsor, was appointed to the task force by House Republican Leader Themis Klarides.
“Tami’s thorough, common sense approach to her work here in Hartford exemplifies the spirit needed on this panel if it’s to make meaningful headway in its mission,” Klarides said. “I know her contributions will be representative of the real world sensibilities shared by her constituents and Connecticut residents.”
