WINDSOR LOCKS – State Representative Tami Zawistowski (R-61) joined state and local officials to welcome the expansion of Breeze Airways at Bradley International Airport. The Airline has operated out of the airport since May 2021 and has decided to add Bradley as their fifth base of operations.
Rep. Zawistowski commented, “This is an exciting development for North Central Connecticut, Breeze’s decision to expand at Bradley is a vote of confidence in the airport’s management and its long-term plans.”
The expansion is expected to increase the number of nonstop destinations from four to twelve and bring over 200 new jobs to the region.
“More destinations will help our local restaurants, hotels and other businesses that depend on increased airport traffic. Additionally, growing the workforce at Bradley with well-paying jobs at Breeze will be a benefit to the economy across the region,” noted Rep. Zawistowski.
Starting in 2022, Breeze Airways will operate an expanded fleet of Airbus A220s using Pratt & Whitney supplied geared turbofan engines which run quieter and are more efficient than traditional engines.
Breeze Airways was founded in 2018 and began services in 2021 and has quickly expanded.
