Rep. Zawistowski to Sponsor Tourism Brochure Swap at NEAM

Rep. Zawistowski to Sponsor Tourism Brochure Swap at NEAM

HARTFORD – Hospitality and entertainment businesses, restaurants, local historical and tourism-related organizations in North Central Connecticut are invited to stop in at a tourism brochure swap between 9am and noon on Tuesday, March 28th at New England Air Museum (NEAM).  State Rep. Zawistowski and NEAM Marketing Coordinator Bob Bell are organizing the event which is geared toward increasing marketing opportunities for the area’s tourism related businesses.

Last October, Zawistowski, who is a member of the legislature’s bipartisan Tourism Caucus, invited state tourism officials to meet with organizations in Suffield and surrounding towns to discuss how attendees could post information and events on the state’s official tourism website, www.ctvisit.com.  Part of the discussion involved the advantages of collaborating for special events or weekends, and how such events could be highlighted on ctvisit.com. The idea behind this brochure swap grew from that meeting.

Rep. Zawistowski notes that North Central Connecticut has a wealth of attractions for tourism. “With the recent slashing of tourism funding by the Governor,” said Zawistowski.  “It’s vital for our local businesses and organizations to join together and share their strengths and their ideas, possibly coordinate weekend events or organize multi-site festivals.  This can help the region’s economy as a whole”.

Attendees are invited to stop in at any time between 9 a.m. and noon to share brochures, light refreshments and good conversation.  Several State Representatives will also be in attendance during the morning: Reps. Tami Zawistowski, Christopher Davis, Scott Storms, Carol Hall and Greg Stokes.

RSVP requested: email bobbell40@comcast.net by Monday, March 27th. Questions may be directed to Bob Bell at bobbell40@comcast.net or Rep. Tami Zawistowski at Tami.Zawistowski@housegop.ct.gov.
