HARTFORD – State Representative Tami Zawistowski (R-61) was recently recognized at “Legislator of the Year” by the Connecticut Conference of Municipalities (CCM) at their annual convention.

CCM is the state’s largest non-profit organization representing the interests of all 169 towns and cities across the state. The 2019 Municipal Legislator of the Year award was offered for, “Outstanding work in strengthening the state-local relationship.”

“Representative Zawistowski has a deep commitment to her constituents and shows a significant understanding of local government in her district as well as across the state,” said Joe DeLong, CCM Executive Director. “Her work on key committees is critical to municipal interests and she always assesses the local government impact on all legislation that comes before her.”

“It is a sincere honor to receive the 2019 Municipal Legislator of the Year award from CCM – an organization that represents all the towns and cities in Connecticut,” said Rep. Zawistowski. “As Ranking Member of the Planning and Development Committee I have been an advocate for our towns on issues tied to regional planning, economic development, municipal government, water resources, planning and zoning, and housing. I have fought fiercely against unfunded state mandates that hurt local town budgets and result in higher property taxes. I look forward to continuing that work in the future”

The Planning and Development Committee has cognizance of all matters concerning local governments and related state programs. The Ranking Member serves as the leader of the minority party in committee meetings.
