EAST GRANBY – State Representative Tami Zawistowski (R-61) celebrated Read Across America – an annual tradition promoting early childhood literacy and commemorating Dr. Seuss’ birthday – with fourth grade students at R. Dudley Seymour Elementary School.
The school began a weeklong celebration of Read Across America on March 2nd and concluded on Friday, March 6th with “Readers are Leaders” by inviting special guest readers from the East Granby Community. Rep. Zawistowski read “Anything but Ordinary Addie: The True Story of Adelaide Herrmann, Queen of Magic” by Mara Rockliff and illustrated by Iacopo Bruno.
“I had a blast reading to fourth graders at Seymour School as part of the Readers are Leaders program during Read Across America week,” said Rep. Zawistowski. “I especially enjoyed reading a true story that I hope will inspire students to pursue their goals.”

According to its website, The National Education Association seeks to build a nation of readers through its signature program, NEA’s Read Across America. For more information about this great event, please visit www.nea.org/readacross.
