Rep. Zawistowski Applauds Bond Commission Support for Local Firefighters

State Representative Tami Zawistowski (R-61) today applauded the state Bond Commission for authorizing more than $2.5 million for repairs and improvements to the state’s Fire Academy complex in Windsor Locks. The funds were approved as part of Item 21, a larger Department of Emergency Services and Public Protection request, during a Friday morning special meeting of the Commission.
“This is great news for the men and women of our fire services who use this incredible facility for advanced training in firefighting and other life-saving techniques,” Rep. Zawistowski said. “I want to thank the Governor and Bond Commission for approving these funds and making sure our brave firefighters have the best possible facilities and training available to keep them safe and to protect families across Connecticut.”
According to supporting documents on the Bond Commission’s agenda, the money will be used to replace the roof on Building 4 at a cost of $ 1,000,000, and fund important repairs to buildings A and B at a cost of $1,571,047.
These funds are part of a larger allocation of $16,571,047 for various priority infrastructure improvements to facilities that fall under the Department of Emergency Services and Public Protection.
