    Public Hearing Wednesday, February 26

HB 5065 – AN ACT EXEMPTING CERTAIN SALES TO MILITARY AND VETERANS-RELATED ORGANIZATIONS FROM THE SALES AND USE TAXES

State Rep. Tami Zawistowski (R-61) today announced the legislature’s Finance, Revenue and Bonding Committee will hold a public hearing on Wednesday, February 26th, on House Bill 5065 to exempt from the sales and use taxes the sale of and the storage, use or other consumption in this state of tangible personal property or services to certain military and veterans-related organizations.

“The non-profit veterans’ organizations in our state do a tremendous job providing for the brave men and women who served our state and nation and it’s important for our state to also support those groups that provide fellowship, community, and charity throughout Connecticut,” Rep. Zawistowski, a member of the Finance, Revenue and Bonding Committee said. “I introduced this legislation to give back to the veterans’ organizations who have already given so much on our behalf.”

If you would like to testify in person or virtually, the public hearing will be on Wednesday, February 26th, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. in Room 2E of the Legislative Office Building (LOB) and via Zoom. Registration will close at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 25th. The order of speakers will be chosen at random and posted on the Finance Revenue & Bonding Committee’s website at 6:00 p.m. under the Public Hearing Testimony tab.

If you are unable to attend in person but would still like to submit written testimony, please go to the General Assembly website at www.cga.ct.gov, select the “Committees” tab, then the Finance Revenue & Bonding Committee.  Under the Public Hearing tab Select “Agendas,” then February 26th, or go to:  https://www.cga.ct.gov/aspx/CGATestimonySub/CGAtestimonysubmission.aspx?comm_code=FIN
