Suffield – State Representative Tami Zawistowski (R-61) joined with the Foundation for Exceptional Children of Suffield, Suffield by the River, the Suffield Police Department and other first responders to launch ‘Project Keep Me Safe’. The project is a voluntary ID card program for children and adults with special needs or those suffering from Alzheimer’s and Dementia. Both groups have unique risks including wandering and might not be able to communicate where they live or how to get in touch with care givers.
The card lists important information such as emergency contacts and relevant medical information. The information on the cards will also be entered in the Suffield PD computer aided dispatch system. This will help first responders when interacting with special needs people in emergency situations.
If you are in Suffield and would like to learn more about the program or to apply for the card please visit fecs06078.com/card-application.
