I was happy to welcome the Society of Connecticut Opticians (SOCO) to the Legislative Office Building today!
They were at the Legislative Office Building offering free eyeglass cleaning, adjustments, and nosepad replacements.
Licensed opticians are important to make sure that eyewear fits their patients properly to maximize vision and comfort, that prescriptions are being filled according to a doctor’s prescription, and that eyewear dispensed in the state are scrutinized to confirm they meet the criteria set by the American National Standards Institute (ANSI).
SOCO’s mission is to inspire and unify the profession of opticianry in Connecticut and protect the health, safety, and welfare of the public. They also strive to advance the knowledge, expertise, and skills of the states’ licensed opticians through leadership, education, and legislative representation.
