During a moving Tuesday night ceremony in the Suffield High School auditorium, Suffield’s Vietnam and Vietnam-era Veterans were honored and thanked for their service to the country by Lieutenant Governor Bysiewicz, Veteran’s Affairs Commissioner Welch, State Rep. Tami Zawistowski, State Senator John Kissel, and First Selectman Colin Moll.
The nearly two-hour event began with the National Anthem performed by Traci Mnich, followed by the Pledge of Allegiance led by Girl Scout Carrigan Boucher. It also featured brief remarks from the elected officials before Lieutenant Governor Bysiewicz carried a microphone around the auditorium for the veterans to tell their stories and talk about their experiences.
Following the veterans’ incredible conversations and remembrances, the officials presented each veteran with a lapel pin and certificate thanking them and noting their heroic service.
