Many of you have reached out to me concerning how you may be able to help the family involved in the devastating early January house fire in Somers. Family members are currently staying with relatives in Windsor Locks.

Right now, the best we can do is raise money to help the family take care of their day-to-day needs while also preparing for the very difficult road ahead.

The Town of Somers has set up an Angel Fund to collect tax-deductible donations. Info is here: https://somers.recdesk.com/Community/Program/Detail?programId=1462

I want to thank the many incredible people of our communities who have provided donations of food, clothing, money, personal assistance and housing. You have been wonderful, and are very appreciated by the family.

More information about the fire, resources and fundraising links can be found in the Hartford Courant.
