Hartford – Representatives Tami Zawistowski (R-61) and Scott Storms (R-60) toured the HARC facility on Asylum Avenue in Hartford. HARC Inc. was founded in 1951 to provide services for children and adults with disabilities offering extensive day programs, job training and operating group homes in the greater Hartford area. The tour was led by COO Gregory Grant and VP of Resident & Community Services Marian Leist. The Hartford facility serves nearly 300 participants every day. As members of the legislature’s Appropriations Committee, the representatives were interested in learning more about how their programs were impacted by the changes in the most recent state budget. CEO Andrea Barton Reeves explained in detail how their services are being funded though federal and state sources, and how HARC has been adapting to new service models.
