    For the second consecutive year, Connecticut’s largest business organization recognized State Representative Tami Zawistowski (R-61) with a perfect voting score on key bills during the 2024 legislative session that shape Connecticut’s business climate and spur economic growth.

    The Connecticut Business and Industry Association (CBIA) ranked all state lawmakers based on their support for the business community’s positions on 12 important policies. The bills all affect job creation, small business growth and economic stability in Connecticut.

    “I appreciate the hard work CBIA does to promote the local, Connecticut businesses that are the backbone of the 61st district and our state’s economy and I am honored to be recognized for supporting pro-business policies that move our state forward.”

    The scorecard was calculated using select pieces of legislation and may reflect votes from committee, the House, or both. The bills assessed in this year’s report are:

    • Occupational Licensing SB 135  – An act establishing a maximum charge for certain occupational licenses, certifications, permits and registrations
    • Economic Development SB 250 – An act concerning the global entrepreneur in residence program.
    • Operating Losses SB 443 – An act concerning the accrual of interest on certain tax underpayments and the business operating loss carry-over period.
    • Childhood Education HB 5002 – An act concerning early childhood care and education.
    • Sick Leave Expansion HB 5005 – An act expanding paid sick days in the state.
    • Healthcare Costs HB 5247 – An act concerning employee health benefit consortiums.
    • Noncompete Agreements HB 5269 – An act concerning noncompete agreements.
    • Homebuyer Support HB 5344 – An act establishing first-time homebuyer savings accounts and a related tax deduction and credit.
    • Genome Sequencing HB 5367 – An act concerning medicaid coverage of rapid whole genome sequencing for critically ill infants and studies concerning the elimination or reduction of the katie beckett waiver program waiting list and medicaid coverage of diapers
    • Striking Workers HB 5431 – An act establishing a connecticut families and workers account.
    • Teacher Certification HB 5436 – An act concerning educator certification, teachers, paraeducators and mandated reporter requirements.
    • Streaming Tax HB 5446 – An act concerning funding for community access television, the connecticut television network and low-income internet access and taxation of communications services providers.
