    Bombardier Service Center Eyes Expansion

    Bombardier Service Center Eyes Expansion

With the company working to secure approvals for an expansion in the near future, State Rep. Tami Zawistowski today joined state and local officials for a preliminary morning meeting and tour of the Bombardier Hartford Service Center in Windsor Locks.  Located at Bradley Airport, Bombardier hopes to expand the large “Hartford” hangar facility to increase efficiency, provide more services for customers, and accept considerably more work which company officials said will lead to a substantially increased workforce.

Bombardier currently operates five service centers in the U.S. – Miami, Wichita, Dallas, Tucson (the largest), and Hartford – to maintain 5,000 aircraft worldwide, 2,500 of which are based domestically.  The Hartford facility has about 220 employees and provides about 300,000 service hours annually, and officials said an expansion of the facility would allow them to nearly double the workforce and productivity.

Hartford Service Center General Manager Bryan Bell said they would like to essentially double the size of the facility, double the workforce, and double the amount of service hours.  He noted that even though Hartford is currently smaller than the Tucson facility, they are friendly rivals regarding performance and service.  “Go Bradley, beat Tucson!” he joked.
