State Initiative Helps to Increase Visitors Safety at State Parks

State Initiative Helps to Increase Visitors Safety at State Parks

Key Takeaways

  • State Initiative Allows for Improvements to Connecticut State Parks

Investing in our state parks is more than providing a beautiful space for people to enjoy, it helps to promote exercise and encourages individuals to spend more time outdoors, two of the most natural ways to support and improve one's mental health.

Thanks to a "Restore Connecticut's State Parks" initiative, outdoor enthusiasts can now safely traverse through the Bolton Notch Tunnel at the Hop River State Park Trail thanks to the completion of 400 feet in new lighting within the tunnel, which will operate on a timer that runs from sunrise to sunset.

This project was due to the continuous work of advocates from Bike Walk Bolton, Hop River Trail Alliance, the Department of Energy and Environmental Protection, Department of Transportation, Governor Lamont, grassroots volunteers, and so many more.
