When the government gets involved in issues, it generally results in things becoming more expensive.
Today, I had an opportunity to be a panelist at CBIA’s 2025 Employment Law Conference with business owners who know all too well how the heavy financial and operational burdens that come along with doing business in Connecticut.
The discussion between Labor Committee Chair Julie Kushner and I began with how labor legislation originates and who/what drives the proposals we put forth. We spoke about paid sick leave, paid family medical leave and the impact they have had on business owners and unintended consequences that have come as a result of their passage.
Overall, it was a very positive discussion and a great opportunity to talk about labor related items in a setting that allowed attendees to hear contrasting points of view.
