HARTFORD – State Representative Donna Veach (R-30), Police Chief Matthew McNally, and Mayor Mark Kaczynski on Friday applaud the State Bond Commission’s decision to include an allocation of $750,000 to the Town of Berlin.

“To say that these upgrades to our police department are long overdue would be an understatement, so I’d like to thank the State Bonding Commission for assisting us with this need and to my colleagues State Representative Jack Fazzino and State Senator Rick Lopes for their support as well, ” said Rep. Veach. “We need to do everything that we possibly can to show our men and women in blue that we support them and the work they do each and every day to keep our community safe and this allocation will go a long way in assisting them in that effort.”

The money, slated for approval at the Oct. 6 Commission meeting at the Legislative Office Building in Hartford, will help cover some of the costs associated with modernizing the town’s police department. Upgrades will be made to the front entrance way, meeting rooms, locker room and dispatch area, and an overall reorganization to the floor plan in order to bring the building up to date.

“On behalf of the Town of Berlin, the residents of our community, and all the women and men of the Berlin Police Department, I would like to thank the bonding commission, and particularly, Representative Donna Veach for their consideration and hard work to help our police department modernize and upgrade an aged facility,” said Berlin Police Chief Matthew McNally. “This bonding will go a long way to creating a modern workspace and allow us to open areas of our facility to be more inviting to both our personnel and to the public which we serve. This would not have been possible without all the work put in by Representative Veach, who truly understands the needs of both our agency and the community she represents.”

“State Representative Veach has been instrumental in the behind-the-scenes efforts needed to see these types of projects through,” Mayor Mark Kaczynski said. The town and police department truly appreciate all of the hard-work she has put into assisting us throughout this process, we couldn’t have done it without her.”

The State Bond Commission meeting, which starts at 10:30 a.m. on Oct. 6, will be held inside Room 1E. The agenda can be viewed here.

Rep. Veach Tours Local Library, Learns More About their Programs and Services

Libraries have evolved quite significantly from the traditional card catalogs, microfiche, cold and quiet places they were for many of us growing up. Today, these spaces have been transformed into vibrant community gathering spaces for people of all ages. Yesterday, I had a chance to tour the Berlin-Peck Memorial Library and see the evolution that […]
