Only 5% of Girl Scouts achieve the honor of being named a Gold Award recipient. Last night, I had the privilege of presenting someone in that exclusive company with a legislative citation to acknowledge that honor.
Cassie Lazzara has dedicated herself to the Girl Scouts since she was in kindergarten. Now, several years later, she is an amazing young woman whose civic engagement and devotion to achieving this incredible accomplishment is truly inspiring.
Recipients of the Silver award must first complete a Senior Journey and dedicate 80 hours to a service-based-project. Her Gold Award project focused on injury prevention for dancers and preventative measures taken to reduce the risks associated with the types of common injuries they may face.
The evening was made extra special because both of Cassie’s older sisters were Gold Award recipients and their mom Marilisa serves as the Troop Leader!
