House and Senate Republicans Offer Ideas to Provide Consumers Relief on Electric Bills

The issue I hear most about when talking to residents is our state’s high energy costs and the financial burdens they place on individuals and family budgets. Today, Republicans in the House and Senate offered a plan aimed at providing our residents with much needed relief.
Our plan that would seek to:
Remove Public Benefits Charges from electric bills – rather than have them paid through the state budgetRedefine “Class I renewable energy source” to include anyelectricity generated from a hydropower or nuclear power generating facility
Eliminate any incentive program that increases electric demand, including, any electric vehicle rebate programStudy ways to increase the supply of natural gas Separate PURA from DEEPProhibit agreements that buy electricity at 150 % above the wholesale price
