With warmer temperatures expected over the next few days🌡, I wanted to share with you some resources and local cooling stations that you might find useful.
While the Town of Berlin doesn’t have an official cooling space, the Berlin-Peck Memorial Library – 234 Kensington Road and Berlin Senior Center – 33 Colonial Dr. act as unofficial spaces for residents who are looking for cooler temperatures.

Stay Cool – Keep your body temperature cool to avoid heat-related illness
Stay Hydrated – as you sweat, it is important to replace the loss of fluid by drinking more water than usual
For Southington residents, the following sites are serving as cooling centers:
Southington Public Library, 255 Main St.,
Tuesday: Noon to 8 p.m.
Wednesday, 9 a.m. to 8 p.m.
Thursday: 9 a.m. to 8 p.m.
Friday: 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Calendar House Senior/Community Center, 388 Pleasant St.
Tuesday: Noon to 4:30 p.m.
Wednesday: 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Thursday: 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Friday: 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Southington Police Department lobby, 69 Lazy Lane
Tuesday, July 15, starting at noon and all hours when the Calendar House and Southington Public Library are closed.
Increased temperatures can be extremely dangerous to the elderly, young children, and increase heat-related illnesses like heat stroke and heat exhaustion among people who work outdoors.
