State Representative Chris Stewart’s Statement on the Re-Appointment of Marissa Gillett as PURA Chairman

State Representative Chris Stewart’s Statement on the Re-Appointment of Marissa Gillett as PURA Chairman

Last Spring, I made the decision to run for office and help foster positive changes for Connecticut’s Quiet Corner. Since that time, the biggest concern that I have heard after speaking with thousands of my neighbors is that utility rates are far too high in Connecticut. Having a young family myself, I understand these concerns and like the rest of you, I am impacted by this as well.

This is why I had to vote NO earlier today on the re-appointment of PURA Chairman Marissa Gillettt. Under Chairman Gillett’s leadership, Connecticut residents are paying some of the highest utility rates in the country. Connecticut ratepayers need real relief and by continuing down this road, I just do not see how we will get there under the same leadership. Unfortunately, the majority of my colleagues disagreed with me. The vote passed 91-52.

How does this re-appointment benefit our residents?
