Rep. Tony Scott, R-Monroe, toured the C.H. Booth Library in Newtown in recent days to understand how it serves as a hub for the community that doubles as a work space, a link to the town’s past and a crafting space equipped with the latest technology.

Rep. Scott, whose district includes Newtown and Monroe, was joined on the tour by Director Douglas C. Lord. Though it was built in 1932, the library has been updated over the decades and has become a satellite office for remote workers because of its strong WiFi and meeting spaces that can accommodate larger groups.

Though it is 89-years-old, the library serves as a display space for art exhibits, offers modern equipment for children, parents and anyone who is looking to learn a new skill or is simply curious about a particular topic. Included in the library’s chbMAKERS’s Corner is a microphone for podcasting, tools for converting old home movies to a digital format and a 3D printer that allows users to create a variety of objects, including keychains and household tools.

And like any great library, it has books, tons of them. A library card also allows access to movies, graphic novels, e-Books audiobooks and even music.

More information about the library can be found here: www.chboothlibrary.org/
