    Public Hearings: A How-To Guide

    Public Hearings: A How-To Guide

The public hearing process has started in Hartford. There are several ways for members of the public to participate. Details about the bills under consideration can be viewed by visiting each committee’s page on the General Assembly’s website.

During the 2023 legislative session, hearings will be open to the public at the Legislative Office Building. Committees may also choose to hold virtual or hybrid public hearings. In most cases, the link will take you to a public YouTube Channel for that committee. Each committee has their own YouTube Channel.

There are a few ways to submit testimony.

In Writing – A form to submit written testimony, online, can be done by clicking a link on the left-hand side of each committee webpage.

Live Testimony – This can be done by clicking on ‘public hearing agendas’ and selecting the date of the hearing. On each agenda there will be a link to a form to register to speak.

Bill status information is available on the General Assembly’s website (www.cga.ct.gov).
