Hartford—Monroe State Representative Tony Scott (R-112) and Senate Minority Leader Kevin Kelly (R-21) welcomed the four-time State Champion Masuk High School Panthers softball team to the State Capitol on May 9, 2023.

“The word dynasty is used a lot in sports, many times overused, but in this case it’s warranted.  This team has won back-to-back-to-back-to-back state titles. They have also been the #1 ranked softball team in the state of Connecticut, regardless of division, the last four seasons, while going 101-2. I invited the Lady Panthers of Masuk High School Tuesday to the Capitol to celebrate that success and wish them luck in their title run again this year,” said Scott.

A citation was presented to the team in the House chambers recognizing the hard work and dedication of this group of student athletes.

The team members were joined by Athletic Director Craig Semple, Head Coach Leigh Barone and Assistant Coach Emily Woznick.

“The team is currently 15-1 for the season, ranked number 3 in the state, number 1 in the L Division, and on pace for a fifth consecutive championship,” added Scott.

The state championship game is slated for June 10.
