Easton – For many Connecticut families, the conclusion of Thanksgiving signifies the start of Christmas Tree shopping season. State Rep. Tony Scott (R-112) visited Maple Row Farm and toured the grounds with General Manager, Scott Edwards, ahead of the expected holiday rush.

“I want to thank Scott for taking the time to meet with me and explain more about the tree business here in Easton. It’s a classic New England tradition to take a hayride and cut down the tree you’ve picked out with your entire family. In addition to trees, you can find wreaths, boughs, and ornaments to decorate your house or apartment,” said Rep. Scott.

According to Maple Row Farm, there are over 200 acres of farmland accessible to visitors via hayrides. The farm has been family owned and operated since the 1920’s, providing a century of stewardship to the Easton community.

In addition to Maple Row Farm, Rep. Scott has indicated that there are many area farms that have quality tree selections. These farms include Slady’s Tree Farm, Everett’s Corner Tree Farm, Sabia Tree Farm, Ganim Tree Farm, and Jones Family Farm, among others.

“I wish everyone a happy and healthy holiday season and good luck in finding your family Christmas tree or farm-crafted decorations,” said Rep. Scott. “If you aren’t looking for the outdoor farm experience, there are many other local businesses participating in Small Business Saturday – an annual opportunity to support our locally owned and operated shops.”

Small Business Saturday, an annual event sponsored by the U.S. Small Business Administration, will take place on November 25th. The event, established in 2010, allows small businesses to participate with in-store discounts or special offerings. You can learn more by visiting www.sba.gov.
