New emergency vehicles ordered for Nichols and Long Hill
TRUMBULL, CT — State Representative David Rutigliano (R-Trumbull) announced that $300,000 he helped secure in the state budget for Trumbull’s fire districts has been approved, and the two new emergency vehicles have now been ordered.
The funding will provide one limited-access highway emergency personnel protection vehicle for the Nichols Fire District and one for the Long Hill Fire District. The specialized vehicles are designed to protect firefighters as they respond to crashes and other emergencies on Connecticut highways.
For Rutigliano, the investment is about making sure Trumbull’s firefighters have the equipment they need to come home safely after every call.
“Our firefighters in Nichols and Long Hill run toward emergencies when the rest of us are trying to get away from them,” said Rutigliano. “They put themselves in harm’s way to protect their neighbors, and they deserve the right equipment to do that job safely. I was proud to fight to get this $300,000 into the budget, and it’s great to see that the funding has been approved and the trucks are now ordered.”
The new vehicles will provide an additional layer of protection for Trumbull firefighters while they respond to incidents on limited-access state highways.
“This is a real investment in Trumbull, and more importantly, it’s an investment in the people who protect our community,” Rutigliano said. “Nichols and Long Hill have firefighters who show up for Trumbull families, day and night. When they answer that call, we need to make sure they have the tools and protection they need."
